United Semiconductor Japan Corporation (USJC) held “USJC 2022 Procurement Policy Conference – Sustainability Sharing Session” on Monday, December 19, 2022. USJC demonstrated our commitment to protect the environment and establish a supply chain that takes care of social responsibility, labor rights, safety, health, and sustainable development. We also expressed our gratitude to all our supply chain partners for their cooperation and contributions.
UMC has pledged “Net Zero Emission by 2050” in 2021 for the entire group including USJC. UMC also has demonstrated its determination to actively reduce carbon emissions through validating its climate goals by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) since 2022 and setting a reduction target for GHG (Green House Gases such as CO2) emissions by 2030.
USJC has concluded a comprehensive agreement with Kuwana City and is promoting various efforts toward carbon neutrality in cooperation with the local community to realize a sustainable society. Specifically, we are engaged in activities to reduce environmental impact such as energy-saving, introduction of renewable energy, and recycling water resources. In addition, we accurately assess the current environmental impact of USJC’s corporate activities through GHG and CFP (carbon footprint) certification.
We also shared with our supplies the responsible use of mineral resources, quality requirements, decent working conditions, compliance, information disclosure and fair competition. Furthermore, we expressed our commitment to grow mutually beneficial partnerships with our suppliers and work toward a Clean Zero throughout our supply chain.
