From August 17 to 22, 2026, 20 selected second-year students from Kuwana High School participated in a summer program hosted by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. The program was conducted as part of Kuwana City’s “Global Youth Empowerment Program” initiative. USJC sponsored part of the expenses associated with the program.

■ Program Overview
Dates: August 17 (Mon.)–22 (Sat.), 2026 5 nights and 6 days
Purpose: To provide students with the opportunity to participate in a summer program hosted by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, one of the world’s leading universities in the semiconductor field. By experiencing its advanced educational and research environment, the program aims to nurture and develop future semiconductor professionals from Kuwana who can play an active role on the global stage.

■ Program Activities
・Chinese language and cultural workshops
・International exchange with local university students
・Workshops on 3D printing and laser cutting
・Visit to the Nano Facility Center at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, including a cleanroom and facilities where students could learn about semiconductor manufacturing processes
・Visit to UMC, including a showroom tour and interaction with UMC employees
・Visit to the Taiwan Space Agency (TASA)
・Visit to the Beyond Computing Museum to learn about the history of computers
・Cultural tours exploring Taiwan’s history, culture, and cuisine, including pineapple cake making, tea-ball making, and a walk through Daxi Old Street

Through experiencing Taiwanese culture, interacting with local students, visiting UMC, USJC’s parent company, and touring semiconductor-related facilities, the participating students broadened their international perspectives.
We hope that the knowledge and experiences they gained through this program will help shape their future academic and career paths and inspire them to grow into individuals who can make a meaningful contribution on the global stage.
